1.)           CHECK HEADING, COMPARE COMPASS AND DIRECTIONAL GYRO, IF HEADING IS OFF TURN BACK TOWARDS DESIRED HEADING.

2.)           CHECK TIME FROM LAST KNOWN POSITION, TO DETERMINE DISTANCE FLOWN.

3.)           LOOK FOR MAJOR LANDMARKS, CITIES, LAKES, HIGHWAYS, ETC. COMPARE TO SECTIONAL.

4.)           USE NEAREST VOR COMPASS ROSE TO DETERMINE POSITION FROM STATION. YOU CAN USE TWO VOR’S TO DETERMINE EXACT LOCATION.

5.)           TRY TO CONTACT F.S.S ON NEAREST REMOTE COMMUNICATION OUTLET FOR ASSISTANCE.

6.)           TRY TO CONTACT A.T.C. ON LOCAL FREQUENCY IF KNOWN. ASK FOR VECTORS TO NEAREST AIRPORT OR DESTINATION. A.F.D. OR F.S.S CAN PROVIDE FREQUENCY.

7.)           WHEN FUEL EXHAUSTION IS IMMINENT USE 121.5 AND SQUAWK 7700 IN TRANSPONDER AS A LAST RESORT. MAY-DAY, MAY-DAY. EMERGENCY.

8.)           IF RADIO IS INOP, FIND A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND FOLLOW TO NEAREST CITY AND LAND AT THE LOCAL AIRPORT. ALWAYS LOOK FOR TRAFFIC.
